I am an Associate Professor of Computer Science at the University of Milan. I received the Doctoral degree in Computer Science from Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne - EPFL (CH) and the MSc in Computer Science from University of Pisa (I), summa cum laude. Prior to joining the University of Milan in 2003, I worked for several years in public and private organizations, including CSELT, Datamont Spa and Elda Ingegneria Group, all based in Italy, first as researcher, next as R&D Coordinator and Project Manager of European research projects, and finally as co-founder of a start-up company operating ìn the area of geospatial data management in road and traffic applications. My current research activity focuses on mobile data management and analysis. I'm teaching GIS courses at the School of Humanities and School of Science. I am Action Editor for GeoInformatica, member of the editorial board for Transactions on Data Privacy, and Associate Editor for IEEE Transactions on Dependable and Secure Computing.
